NorthStar Is Now a ‘Climate Positive’ Company

At NorthStar, we believe the long-term sustainability of our planet is crucial. Last week (22 April) we supported Earth Day 2021. In support of this movement, we are pleased to announce that NorthStar is now a ‘climate positive’ company. We have partnered with Ecologi, one of the UK’s leading environmental organisations to help us achieve this commitment.

This means we go further than being ‘carbon neutral’ or achieving ‘net zero carbon’. We are committed to creating an environmental benefit by removing more greenhouse gas emissions from the global environment than our business generates.

We offset more than our entire carbon footprint and help fund the world’s best climate crisis solutions. Every month we finance a number of innovative carbon reduction projects and contribute funding to ensure the planting of groves of trees in our company forest.

How we achieve our climate positive commitment

Through our partnership with Ecologi, we achieve this commitment in three key ways:

1. Employee carbon footprint offset scheme. Every member of our team is climate positive. This means we offset more than our entire carbon footprint, including emissions from all business activities as well as employees homes, personal travel, holidays, food, hobbies and more.

2. Business travel offset scheme. We are committed to minimising business travel wherever possible but some business trips are unavoidable. That’s why we offset all business travel by planting trees and financing carbon reduction projects around the world.

3. Planting trees & funding climate projects. We help fund the world’s best climate crisis solutions. Every month we finance a number of innovative carbon reduction projects and contribute funding to ensure the planting of groves of trees in our company forest.
